Utilizing the Latest Technology
Dr. Gradwell prioritizes the need to remain up to date with new periodontal and implant surgical techniques, so he attends national and international continuing education programs every year. He is a graduate of the Hybridge Dental Implant Institute, Las Vegas, NV. He successfully completed the Chao Pinhole Technique Seminar, mastering the periodontal restorative procedure pioneered by Dr. John Chao of Alhambra, CA. Implant Direct™ recognizes Dr. Gradwell as a major contributor to implant dentistry. He received his license in Intravenous Conscious Sedation from New York’s Montefiore Medical School. As a result, Dr. Gradwell is able to provide comfortable care to patients who suffer dental anxiety as well as to patients whose physical disabilities dictate the need for sedation.
Community Involvement
Dr. Gradwell, Eagle Scout, is enthusiastically involved in community service. He served for eight years on the board of the Lehigh County Senior Center. The Center achieved significant progress under his leadership during Dr. Gradwell’s two years as Board President. He also served on the Occupational Advisory Council for the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. He volunteers his time to cook for Daybreak, a part of the Lehigh County Conference of Churches. An Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, Dr. Gradwell taught 4th grade in the church’s Sunday school program for fifteen years. Representing OraPharma, then a part of Johnson & Johnson’s Personal Products unit, Dr. Gradwell has lectured nationally on Arestin® antibiotic periodontal disease treatment. From 2003 to 2005, he participated in educational programs offering detailed information on Arestin® use and local delivery to dentists in the Midwest, and in local educational programs.
Mission Work
Participation in local and international mission work is an important part of Dr. Gradwell’s life. He is active in the Pennsylvania Dental Association Mission of Mercy (“MOM”), an outreach program for disadvantaged Pennsylvanians. “MOM” dentists and specialists treat approximately 2000 patients statewide every year. Each spring, Dr. Gradwell travels to Honduras with fellow members of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown to work as an oral surgeon at Manos Amigos Clinic. He also travels yearly to Zambia and Malawi, Africa for ten days in association with “Villages in Partnership.” There, he started the first dental clinic in Zambia province. During his time in Africa, Dr. Gradwell treats patients at the dental clinic and in the surrounding villages.
